About CI motorhomes

CI - short for Caravans International - has an unusual two-part history. The name originated with a British group founded in 1963 that owned brands like Eccles and Bluebird before going into liquidation in 1982. The CI badge was subsequently acquired and revived as an Italian motorhome marque by the Trigano Group, and is now built at the SEA factory in San Gimignano, Tuscany, alongside sister brands Roller Team, Elnagh and Mobilvetta. The range concentrated on value-led coachbuilts on the Fiat Ducato, with the Carioca a long-running over-cab line, the Riviera and Riviera Elite covering low-profile coachbuilts, and the Magis, Horon and Kyros names appearing on later models. CI is not currently imported into the UK as a new brand through Trigano UK, so the live UK market is almost entirely used stock from the 2000s and 2010s. Buyer interest is typically value-driven - early 2000s Carioca and Riviera examples sit at the lower end of the used coachbuilt market, often well under £20,000, with later Mobilvetta-era models commanding more.

Frequently asked questions about CI motorhomes

Who makes CI motorhomes?

CI (Caravans International) is built in San Gimignano, Tuscany, by the SEA factory under the Trigano Group, the same parent group behind Roller Team, Elnagh, Chausson and Auto-Trail. The original British CI company was wound up in 1982 and the badge was revived by Trigano as an Italian brand.

Are CI motorhomes still imported into the UK?

Not officially. Trigano no longer brings CI into the UK as a new-vehicle line, so almost everything available today is used stock from earlier imports. Servicing and spares run through the standard Fiat Ducato dealer network and independent motorhome specialists.

What chassis is a CI Carioca built on?

The CI Carioca, like the rest of the CI coachbuilt range including the Riviera and Magis, is built on the Fiat Ducato chassis. Most UK examples use the 2.3 or 2.8 JTD/Multijet diesel engine depending on age.
