About Peugeot motorhomes
Peugeot doesn't manufacture motorhomes, but its Boxer large panel van is one of the most common base vehicles in the UK leisure market. The Boxer is built alongside the Fiat Ducato and Citroën Relay at the Sevel Sud plant in Atessa, Italy, as part of the long-standing Sevel joint venture, and shares its bodyshell, cab and chassis with both sister vans. Where it differs is under the bonnet: the Boxer uses Stellantis BlueHDi 2.2-litre diesel engines (typically 120, 140 or 165hp) rather than Fiat's MultiJet units. The current generation launched in 2006 and was facelifted in 2014 and again in 2021, with an all-electric e-Boxer also now offered. UK motorhome converters who routinely use Peugeot Boxer chassis-cabs and panel vans include Auto-Sleepers, Devon Conversions, Murvi, IH Motorhomes, Globe-Traveller and Wildax. Peugeot listings on our site also occasionally include Traveller, Expert and Rifter-based micro-campers and day vans, plus unconverted Boxer panel vans being sold as conversion bases.
Frequently asked questions about Peugeot motorhomes
Is the Peugeot Boxer the same as the Fiat Ducato?
Mechanically the Boxer and Ducato share the same Sevel-built platform, bodyshell, cab structure and dimensions, and a Boxer-based motorhome will drive and feel almost identical to a Ducato-based one. The main differences are the engines (Peugeot uses PSA/Stellantis BlueHDi diesels rather than Fiat's MultiJet), the badging, dashboard finishes and which dealer network you take it to for warranty and servicing.
Which motorhome manufacturers use the Peugeot Boxer?
In the UK, Auto-Sleepers, Murvi, Devon Conversions, IH Motorhomes and Wildax are notable Peugeot Boxer specialists, often choosing it for its competitive pricing and Stellantis BlueHDi engines. European brands also occasionally offer Boxer-based variants of their core Ducato ranges, particularly in fleet and dealer-special builds.
Are Peugeot Boxer motorhomes easy to service and insure in the UK?
Yes - the Boxer is sold through Peugeot's extensive UK commercial vehicle network, and habitation-trained motorhome workshops are happy to service the base vehicle alongside the conversion. Insurance is typically priced very similarly to a Ducato or Relay equivalent, as underwriters treat the three Sevel vans as effectively the same chassis.
