5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
5.1 What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They serve various purposes, from remembering your preferences to enabling analytics and advertising. We also use similar technologies such as local storage and session storage.
5.2 How We Obtain Your Consent
We use CookieYes as our consent management platform. When you first visit our Website, you will see a cookie consent banner that allows you to accept or reject different categories of cookies. We implement Google Consent Mode v2, which means that all non-essential cookies and tracking are blocked by default until you provide consent. You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the cookie settings link on our Website.
5.3 Categories of Cookies We Use
Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the Website to function and cannot be switched off. They include:
- Authentication cookies (Supabase): maintain your login session for buyer and seller accounts
- Admin session cookies (NextAuth): maintain admin staff login sessions
- CookieYes consent cookies: remember your cookie consent preferences
- Security cookies: protect against cross-site request forgery and other security threats
Legal basis: These cookies are exempt from consent requirements under PECR as they are strictly necessary for the provision of the service you have requested.
Analytics Cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our Website. They are only set with your consent.
- Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager): tracks page views, user journeys, and engagement metrics. Cookies include
_ga,_gid, and_gat. Duration: up to 2 years. - PostHog (PostHog Inc.): provides product analytics, error tracking, and session replay to help us understand how visitors use our Website, identify and fix technical errors, and improve the user experience. PostHog operates in cookieless mode before you consent to analytics cookies — in this mode, events are captured using server-side hashing without storing any cookies or data in your browser, meaning no personal identifiers are created. If you consent to analytics cookies, PostHog switches to cookie-based tracking to provide more detailed session-level analytics. PostHog also captures unhandled JavaScript errors and failed page loads automatically so we can detect and fix issues quickly. Session replays (which record mouse movements, clicks, and page interactions — with all form inputs masked) are only enabled with your consent. Data is processed in the EU (Frankfurt).

Advertising / Marketing Cookies
These cookies are used to deliver relevant advertisements and measure their effectiveness. They are only set with your consent.
- Meta (Facebook) Pixel (via Google Tag Manager): tracks conversions from Facebook and Instagram advertisements and enables remarketing. Cookies include
_fbp(browser ID) and_fbc(click ID). Duration: up to 90 days. - Google Ads Conversion Linker (via Google Tag Manager): measures conversions from Google Ads campaigns and links ad clicks to website actions. Uses first-party cookies to store click information.
- Google Ads Remarketing (via Google Tag Manager): enables us to show relevant advertisements to you on other websites in the Google Display Network based on your visit to our Website.

These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalisation:
- User mode preference: remembers whether you last used the site as a buyer or seller (stored in local storage)

- Search state: preserves your search position and scroll location so you can return to where you left off (stored in session storage)
5.4 Managing Your Cookie Preferences
You can manage your cookie preferences in the following ways:
- Cookie consent banner: click the cookie settings link on our Website at any time to update your preferences
- Browser settings: most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Note that blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the Website from functioning correctly
