About Sunlight motorhomes
Sunlight was launched in 2004 as an entry-level brand under Dethleffs and has been part of the Erwin Hymer Group throughout its life. Manufacturing was relocated in 2006 to EHG's purpose-built Capron plant in Neustadt in Sachsen, eastern Germany, which it shares with sister value brand Carado - both ranges are built on the same line using simplified, high-volume versions of EHG's bonded sandwich-floor construction. The current line-up covers four body styles on the Fiat Ducato chassis: the T-series (T 65, T 67, T 68 etc.) low-profile coachbuilts; the V-series semi-integrated; the I-series fully integrated A-class with drop-down bed; and the A-series over-cab family motorhomes, the A 70 and A 72, which seat and sleep six with a fixed alcove bed, rear bunks and a convertible dinette. There is also the Cliff campervan range on the Fiat Ducato panel van, including the 540 (compact), 600 and the newer pop-top Adventure and XX editions. Sunlight is positioned as the value sister to Burstner, Hymer and Dethleffs - same parent group, same factory family, but stripped-back specifications, fewer chassis options and lower list prices. Typical UK buyers are first-time owners and families shopping for a six-berth on a tighter budget than the German mainstream brands.
Frequently asked questions about Sunlight motorhomes
Are Sunlight motorhomes any good?
Sunlight is the value tier of the Erwin Hymer Group, the same parent company as Hymer, Burstner and Dethleffs, and the vehicles are built at EHG's Capron plant in Neustadt to the group's bonded sandwich construction. They are deliberately stripped back on standard equipment compared with sister brands, but the chassis (Fiat Ducato), body shell and core habitation system are shared, which is why they have become a popular first-motorhome choice in the UK.
What is the difference between Sunlight T, I, V and A models?
The letter denotes body style. T-series (T 65, T 67, T 68) are low-profile coachbuilts; the V-series is a semi-integrated with a higher cab area; the I-series is a fully integrated A-class with a drop-down bed; and the A-series - A 70 and A 72 - are over-cab family alcoves with a fixed bed above the cab, rear bunks and six belted travel seats. The Cliff is a separate panel-van campervan line on the Fiat Ducato.
Where are Sunlight motorhomes built?
Sunlight motorhomes are built at the Erwin Hymer Group's Capron plant in Neustadt in Sachsen, Germany, on the same line as sister value brand Carado. The brand has been part of EHG since launching in 2004 under Dethleffs, with production moving to the new Neustadt facility in 2006.
