Elddis is a British brand founded in 1964 and based in Consett, County Durham. It is owned by the Explore Group, which also owns Compass and Buccaneer. Elddis is positioned at the affordable end of the UK motorhome market and is known for producing coachbuilts under 3,500kg MTPLM that can be driven on a standard post-1997 car licence. The Autoquest is the long-running mid-range coachbuilt and the most common Elddis on the UK secondhand market, available in a wide spread of floorplans from 2-berth rear-lounge to 6-berth family layouts with drop-down bed. The Accordo is a compact sub-6m coachbuilt aimed at couples wanting easier UK driving, and the Encore was the higher-spec flagship (now superseded by the Avalon, Whirlwind and Autoquest APEX in the current range). Most models use the Peugeot Boxer chassis, with newer high-spec ranges moving to Fiat Ducato. Elddis appeals to first-time buyers, budget-conscious tourers and downsizers who want a UK-built, dealer-supported coachbuilt without the price tag of a German or French equivalent.
