You'll typically need side windows, insulation, a habitation electrical system, a pop-top or high-top roof for standing height and, if you want it reclassified as a motor caravan on the V5, you'll need to meet DVLA's evidence requirements (cooking facility, bed, table, storage and external badging/graphics).

The Nugget is Ford's official factory campervan, engineered and converted by Westfalia in Germany on the Transit Custom platform. It comes with an electric pop-top roof, two-burner hob, sink, fridge, swivel cab seats, rock-and-roll bed and seating/sleeping for up to four, and is sold and warranted through Ford Transit Centres.

The Transit is a strong base for smaller campers and panel-van conversions and benefits from Ford's huge UK dealer network and lower parts prices, but the Ducato dominates larger coachbuilt motorhomes thanks to its purpose-designed low-line chassis, wider body and converter-specific options. In general, Transits suit Custom-sized pop-tops and mid-size high-tops, while Ducatos suit family coachbuilts and A-class motorhomes.
