Questions & Answers

Q

Buyer Richard Sanders wants to know the specific Ford Transit model designation and whether the 2.4L diesel engine uses a wet belt or a timing chain, ahead of deciding whether to view.

A

The owner has checked the V5C: it's a Ford Transit Minibus, 2.4L diesel, manual. She confirms the engine is a drive belt (belt-driven) rather than a timing chain.

Q

Buyer Richard Sanders texted today 13 Sep asking for the timing belt change date, following the earlier confirmation that the 2.4L engine is belt-driven. He is hoping to view on Friday.

A

The owner has checked with her mechanic, who has confirmed the engine on this van is a timing chain rather than a belt — so there's no cambelt change due. (This supersedes the earlier "drive belt" answer taken from the V5C paperwork.)

Q

Buyer (adam grist, eBay enquiry) is a 5 hour drive away, wants engine bay photo, more interior layout photos, and details on bodywork/rust on sills before deciding to travel.

A

The owner says that, to be honest, there's very little rust on the bodywork. She has also sent over some extra photos.

Q

Buyer Sam (Basingstoke, first campervan) asked by email on 15 Oct 2026 whether there were advisories on the last MOT and whether anything has been fixed. Tyre advisories are covered by the seller's note about 3 new tyres. The suspension mounting corrosion advisory has no answer on file. The earlier question about the yearly road tax cost is still waiting on the owner.

A

The owner says no work has been done on the offside front wheel arch corrosion advisory since the March 2026 MOT. She's asked her mechanic for a quote for the welding. The same mechanic has serviced the van every year since she bought it, and she has the paperwork for all the work he's done, plus paperwork from the garage that looked after it before that.

Q

Buyer Sam (Basingstoke, first campervan) emailed 15 Oct 2026 asking the road tax cost, MOT due date, DVLA registration and an insurance recommendation. MOT and registration were answered from what we hold. The road tax amount isn't in our context, so I'm asking the owner.

A

The owner says she paid £177 for the year's road tax.

How Buying Works

We make buying a motorhome safe, simple, and stress-free. Here's how we help you every step of the way.

1

Find Your Perfect Match

Our site is not open to the public. All sellers are under exclusive 90-day contracts with Motorhome Pig, having signed legally binding agreements. We verify the owner's identity and ownership and run HPI, finance and theft checks on every vehicle — the condition itself is yours to judge in person when you view it.

2

Meet the Real Owner

We arrange your viewing at the motorhome's location and give you everything you need to make a confident decision — including a simple checklist of what to look at, from damp and habitation to the engine and paperwork. No pressure, no salesperson — just you, the owner, and the motorhome. Take your time and ask anything.

3

Secure Handover

We provide finance options, handover guidance, and support with the V5 and paperwork. No buyer fees — the price you see is the price you pay.

💚 No Buyer Fees— The price you see is exactly what you pay. We're here to help, not add costs.

More Than Just a Motorhome

Motorhome Pig can introduce you to our partners for finance, free 14-day driveaway insurance, and vehicle repair plans.

Motorhome Pig is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. We introduce customers to FCA-authorised partners for finance and insurance, and to Warranty First (a Motor Ombudsman-accredited repair plan provider) for warranty.
