We've had David, our customer, reach out to us. Everybody has a story to why they need to sell the motorhome. He's got a story, and it's a little bit heartfelt. It's a motorhome that he was open to keep for the days and leave it to his family.
And he's not been able to use it with his wife, which for reasons we'll explain when we get there. And his family don't want to use it, for, again, reasons when we explain when we get there. I think that some of the challenges when you're selling a motorhome, one, it's a large amount of money. You know, you're talking tens of thousands of pounds, and a lot of the time, they've invested a substantial amount of what they've achieved in their lives into being able to buy it.
We reach out to people to help them sell the motorhome. There's always the keyboard warriors, and everybody tells me you shouldn't feed the trolls, but a percentage of what people are saying is, how do we make a difference? The main things that make a real difference is marketing. That's something that I've pretty much done all my life.
I'm 53 now, and I started early, so it's just short of 40 years in the multi-trade. And it makes a difference. People can have something for sale for a month, two months, six months, even 12 months, they can have it for sale for. And then when you bring it to us, we accelerate that process and get it from A to B quicker.
So it makes a huge difference, and I enjoy doing it. How are you doing, David? You all right? So that'll get me a kick in the head.
So here we are, David. We've got your motorhome in its first stages of being advertised. I'm impressed with the way it's been illustrated, because as you say, it's your first vision, you say, oh yes, I like it, no, I don't. And that's, I mean, I'm impressed with that.
People have shown the motorhome before, you know, friends. They've, oh, that looks nice. So yes, I'm impressed with that. And you've kept me up to date with what's been happening anyway.
So that is encouraging. I mean, you can't expect Sony to sell it before you actually put it into the dealership. Oh, well, yeah, you haven't, you sold it yet. No, that's crazy.
Something I always find interesting is, have you been anywhere nice in it? I have, but limited, because I do work as a film extra and stay away at locations if I can, or if not, find a little slot that's convenient and permitted and stay there. My son, daughter-in-law, we had two grandchildren. Grandson, granddaughter.
She died at the age of 16, she fell down dead. My son had used the motorhome for the once, because I'd intended it being a sort of family heirloom to go on and on and on. And the sadness, the emotion, everything else, because she died after they'd been on their week's holiday in it, and they couldn't face going away in the motorhome again because of the loss of our granddaughter. So consequently, they're the only ones that have spent a continuous seven-day period in it.
I've spent the odd nights away. Other than that, it has done its 4,800 miles since 2021, and that's it. When you were buying it initially, what attracted you to that motorhome? And what do you think would be a benefit for somebody else who was looking for one?
What would they find great about it? It had to be a flat interior floor plan to walk through. It had to have comfortable seats, and the two captain seats, two fixed bunks. The idea was if we went away for a trip, we weren't going to have to rush back to get home to do this, that, and the other.
You pull over somewhere, she can lie down, rest. I could probably prepare a meal. Imagine. I don't know if my chef's hat would fit underneath the roof there, but we could stand up in it and walk fore and aft.
That's crucial. And the storage space is adequate. There's the shower and the toilet. Yeah.
It'd be lovely to have a separate shower if you can, but that's an absolute luxury. I think the shower's only been used twice in its life. What makes this better than when we bought it is that I've put a permanent wireless camera, rear-view camera, and there's a screen in the dashboard at the front so that you have a permanent view of who's... It shows you who's been a silly idiot behind you, and on motorways, you know that if you're going to overtake, because it is capable of 70 miles an hour, if you wish, on a motorway, but there's always someone trying to beat you to it, and it does save you stress.
So, that's great. And have you ever had any problems with the motor, anything broken or needed fixing? I put a new horn on it, because the original horn sounded like a little mobility scooter. Eee!
Right. So I put a more beefy one, because if you've got this thing coming up behind you, you want to make sure that you are making them aware that you are doing it. Show me that when we go outside. Yeah, it's not quite as bold as a truck horn, but I think you need...
Is it a 24-volt for that? I don't know. It's a high voltage, because I fancied the old klaxon, you know. Yeah, imagine.
We're here. It'd be fun. Fun to wake people up while you're driving. Just a little fridge freezer.
It's bigger than some small apartment, I think. Okay, so we've just left David. He's got such a sad story, and yet he's full of joy. He's happy.
You wouldn't believe how happy he is. I mean, I don't know. I don't know what to say. I don't know what to say.
I don't know what to say. I don't know what to say. I don't know what to say. I don't know what to say.
You wouldn't believe that there was anything, issue-wise, below the surface, as far as he was struggling on. He's taken it in stride. He's got an issue with his good lady, and he's got a sad story of his family. What a nice guy.
And the motorhome's amazing, so somebody's gonna get particularly lucky. They're gonna get a motorhome with very, very little wear and tear. We've done what we needed to do today. We got to know David.
We've got to know his van, and we took some extra videos and photographs. And now it's get back to base and start editing what we've got, get it online, present it properly, and make sure that the vehicle's listed as it should be with the right information. And let's start pushing to get it sold.
