Questions & Answers

Q

Buyer Peter Barry enquired via the website asking about heating/water, marks and scratches, internal standing height (he's 6ft 1in), and whether the rear wall could be removed to open the back doors to a view.

A

1) Internal standing height is 6ft (1,840mm). 2) Heating: a diesel heater, fitted to run off the van's main diesel tank. There's no hot water on board. Fresh water tank is around 40-50 litres. No fixed waste tank, but it comes with a portable waste tank that can be carried. 3) Bodywork: one small rust mark on the rear door, no dents. Interior: general wear and tear. 4) The rear wall/partition is tied into the furniture, so it isn't a standalone panel that can simply be removed.

Q

Buyer Liam Maitland asked about service history, damp/damage and MOT length. Damp status isn't covered in the listing or previous seller answers.

A

When we bought the van 5 years ago there were issues with leaks from the roof vent — those have all been fixed. It hasn't had a habitation check for over 3 years, and no damp reading has been taken recently. If a buyer would like to check it over with a damp meter at a viewing, I'm more than happy for that to happen.

Q

Buyer Paul Nosworthy is interested in the 2002 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Camper and asked whether all welding/MOT advisories have been completed, plus a question about the control panel's condition - neither is covered in the listing details or seller-provided info.

A

The habitation control panel is in full working order. All welding needed for the MOT pass has been completed. The slight corrosion advisory hasn't been done — it's being monitored by the owner's garage mechanic.

A quick honest note

Because you're buying directly from the owner, the condition of the motorhome is yours to judge on the day - and that's a good thing (it's why there's no dealer markup). We verify ownership and run an HPI check; the motorhome's condition is the one thing best judged in person. We'll give you a checklist so you can view like a pro and satisfy yourself everything's spot-on before you buy.

Our checks cover the seller and the registers, not the vehicle itself, and they rely on data supplied to us by third parties, so we can't accept responsibility for errors or omissions in it. However thorough our checks are, please arrange your own independent inspection and your own history check before you commit to buying.

No pressure, no salesperson — just you, the owner, and the motorhome. Take your time and ask anything.

3
