I'm only turning the item off of course because I've finished using it, if you were using it you would be leaving it on. We're going to take the thermometer out of here now and we're going to come back to the hot water which has also been on for a short time and see how we're getting on with that.

It may not be at its full potential just yet but really we just want to show you it getting hot so we'll stick the thermometer under there and give this a few seconds to register the heat of course. 18 degrees so far. You can see the steam coming off the tap there, nice hot water coming out of there. Just give the thermometer time to catch up.

65 degrees, nice hot water coming out of your tap there as well. Happy with that I'm going to turn this off now and I'm also going to turn off the boiler. Again I'm only turning this off because I've finished using it, if you were using it you'd be leaving it on so that any water you're using out of that boiler system is getting a chance to replenish from the water pump and in turn that would need a chance to heat up as well. Now that we've shown you your fridge getting nice and cold and your hot water getting nice and hot the next thing we really need to talk about in your van is battery maintenance which is also very important.

Not only do you have to look after your engine battery and we do that by starting the van and giving it a drive. I would suggest you at least try and drive your van once a week for around about 20 minutes to keep your engine battery topped up. You also need to look after that leisure battery and we do that by plugging in that mains cable outside. Now I would suggest again that you plug your van in once a week for around about 24 hours to keep your leisure battery topped up.

We're now going to show you how to winterise your van and that means draining the water from your van. I would suggest doing this after every trip as it's going to help eliminate the chance of having stale water sitting in your tanks and pipes along with of course preventing against any frost damage. The first thing we need to do when winterising the van is we come to the control panel here and we turn the water pump into the off position. Once off we come to each individual tap throughout the van, find the centre of the tap and open it, that's going to release the pressure out of the system.

This includes your bathroom as well, find the centre, open it up, find the centre, open it up, you can drop your shower head down to the lower point as well and I always press and hold the flush on the toilet for a few seconds to allow any residual water to escape from there. Once you've drained all these points we can then drain off your bigger tanks. Your bigger tanks being we have your boiler drain which is underneath this bench seat at the back here. The yellow valve goes into the upright position, just remember that if you've just had your boiler on all these pipes will be very hot so be very careful.

We also have your fresh water drain which is inside the hatch underneath the floor here. Lift the hatch up, unscrew the top cap and then we are hand in and pull out the bung. So we're hand in here, pull the bung out. Always keep your bung somewhere safe, I always usually put it just in the top drawer here, so it's in your top drawer there because you'll need to put that back in before you fill up with fresh water.

That's going to drain off your fresh water tank. We then go outside, you'll see that we've got the boiler draining just here, fresh water draining under the van there and then we've got waste water draining at the back here. Shower and sink waste. Once you've drained all these points and most of the water has escaped out here, it's then always a good idea to give your van a short drive.

That will allow any residual water left in these systems to move around and escape from these points. Remember to close all windows before you travel, open all blinds and fly screens before you travel and of course turn off any gas boxes before you travel. You do also have a solar panel on your roof so that will triple charge your leisure battery, you don't have to do anything with your solar panel, it will triple charge that leisure battery on a sunny day.
