To work the water heater in the van, you go to this panel which is by the side of the bench seat against the wardrobe door. You use the top one which is marked with water heating for the water heater. So simply push the button, it goes from off. If you push it once, it actually goes to frost protect which won't let the water go below 5 degrees so it won't freeze.
You've got electric low, electric high, you've got gas only, gas and electric low or gas and electric high. Most of the time if you're on site, you'll be running on electric high. If you need to knock it down to electric low, the campsite will tell you.
