2002 Volkswagen Transporter T4 Campervan

Offered by Motorhome Pig as a broker. Available to view at Inverurie, Aberdeenshire.

This classic T4 campervan is finished in red and is powered by a 2.5 TDI diesel engine with a manual gearbox. The owner advises it is a four-berth conversion with four travelling seats, centred around a rock and roll bed arrangement — a practical and versatile layout well suited to couples or small families looking for a capable and characterful campervan.

History and work carried out

The owner has been the keeper since May 2007 and is the van's second owner. She advises it has been serviced every year in that time, with a collection of service and repair invoices retained alongside the service manual. Servicing and repairs were carried out for many years by Aberdeen Volks Centre, and more recently by Alltrucks car and commercial vehicle repair specialists in Sauchen, Aberdeenshire.

  • New TDi engine fitted April 2025 (invoice held) — the van was taken off the road shortly afterwards, so mileage at the time of the work is close to the current figure
  • New Reimo roof fitted 2020 (invoice held)
  • Welding to the sills carried out autumn 2025 ahead of the MOT
  • MOT carried out April 2026
  • Cambelt last changed December 2016 at 102,131 miles

The T4 sits comfortably within standard car licence entitlement at a permissible mass of 2,700 kg, making it accessible to most drivers.

Questions & Answers

Q

Buyer Stuart Irving asked for the service history and details of work done on the 2002 VW T4 campervan.

A

Service history: the van has been serviced every year since the owner bought it in May 2007 (she is the second owner). There's a collection of service invoices as well as the manual (which ran out of space). It was serviced and repaired for many years by Aberdeen Volks Centre, and more recently by Alltrucks car and commercial vehicle repair specialists in Sauchen, Aberdeenshire, after the owner moved. Engine: the new TDi engine work was carried out in April 2025 — the owner has the invoice for the work. The van was taken off the road shortly afterwards when she retired and bought a larger motorhome, so the mileage at the time of the engine work is very close to the current mileage. Welding: carried out in autumn 2025 in preparation for the MOT, which was done in April 2026. Cambelt: last changed in December 2016 at 102,131 miles. Also worth noting: a new Reimo roof was fitted in 2020 (invoice held).

Q

Buyer enquiring via AutoTrader asked whether the T4 has power steering (and confirmed interest in the manual gearbox).

A

Yes, the campervan has power steering.

Q

Buyer Rodney Hall (Autotrader enquiry) texted on 7 Oct a list of questions and wants answers before travelling from Northern Ireland. Answered from the listing: non-smoker, Reimo conversion, 4 travelling seats. The rest are now going to the owner.

A

1) Pet damage: none. 2) Conversion: it was a factory conversion when the van was new (the Lucky Deluxe conversion). 3) Power: 88bhp. 4) Road tax: £360 per year. 5) 5-speed gearbox. It has central locking and electric windows and a basic radio, with no extra reversing aids. 6) Bodywork: surface rust on a couple of the wheel arches. The owner has taken photos of all four wheel arches and the sills, and the sills are rust free. 7) Rear seat: yes, two seatbelts. 8) The rear seat slides on its runners and can be taken out. 9) Porta Potti: there's a lot of space under the bed. If you send the owner the size of your Porta Potti she can check it fits. 10) Curtains all the way round, but not full blackout. 11) Heating: gas heating in the living area, though the owner mostly takes an electric heater when on hook-up. On a ramp: sorry, the owner doesn't have a ramp. She's happy to do a video call with you if that would help before you travel.

A quick honest note

Because you're buying directly from the owner, the condition of the motorhome is yours to judge on the day - and that's a good thing (it's why there's no dealer markup). We verify ownership and run an HPI check; the motorhome's condition is the one thing best judged in person. We'll give you a checklist so you can view like a pro and satisfy yourself everything's spot-on before you buy.

Our checks cover the seller and the registers, not the vehicle itself, and they rely on data supplied to us by third parties, so we can't accept responsibility for errors or omissions in it. However thorough our checks are, please arrange your own independent inspection and your own history check before you commit to buying.
