Questions & Answers
Buyer Steve Jones has asked for the service history detail and specifically whether/when the gearbox has been serviced.
The owner advises there's a partial service history rather than a full one. They've owned it around three years and have had routine work done in that time (filters changed etc.), and they're gathering together as many invoices as they can find. The automatic gearbox has not been serviced during their ownership. They feel this is reflected in the asking price.
Buyer Danny Cook (AutoTrader enquiry, 6 Sept) is in Sunderland and asked us to request a video of the 2009 VW Caravelle before travelling to Stafford. No video walkthrough exists on the listing. I've told him it isn't something we do as standard and that I can ask but can't promise it.
The owner is happy to do a walk-around video and will take one and send it over to us as soon as she can. We'll pass it straight on as soon as it arrives.
Danny Cook (Autotrader enquiry, 6 Sept) is a first-time buyer in Sunderland looking at the 2009 VW Caravelle at £20,000. He's asked how long it's been for sale, and previously asked for a video. He's coming back to us with a figure once his car sale completes.
The owner says it's only up for sale with us. It is also still listed with Autobarn Conversions, the converter she bought it from.
Buyer Dom Sutlieff enquired via the website asking whether the van has aircon and whether the cambelt has been replaced.
The owner advises there is no air conditioning in the cab. On the cambelt, she believes the engine doesn't have a cambelt as it's the larger engine, so it isn't something that's been changed during her ownership — she'd suggest satisfying yourself on that with your own checks.
Buyer Matthew Rowley is asking for the specific date of the last service and whether any major faults were flagged at that service, alongside general service history questions.
The owner advises the Caravelle had a full service a few weeks ago. I've asked her whether anything significant was flagged at that service and will pass that on once she confirms.

Seller's ID verified by Motorhome PigA quick honest note
Because you're buying directly from the owner, the condition of the motorhome is yours to judge on the day - and that's a good thing (it's why there's no dealer markup). We verify ownership and run an HPI check; the motorhome's condition is the one thing best judged in person. We'll give you a checklist so you can view like a pro and satisfy yourself everything's spot-on before you buy.
Our checks cover the seller and the registers, not the vehicle itself, and they rely on data supplied to us by third parties, so we can't accept responsibility for errors or omissions in it. However thorough our checks are, please arrange your own independent inspection and your own history check before you commit to buying.
