Welcome to Jim Bob our Heimer Motorhome and as you can see I'm just going to take you around inside so that you can see what he's like. I'm not a great photographer so please bear with as we go up the stairs. Immediately on your left there are two cupboards generally used by us for shoes and bits and bobs, all this stuff will be staying, there's some general cleaning stuff, an outside extension lead, the dog lead you can either keep or we can take etc. There are the buttons that put the steps down and light, internal lights and external lights.
There's the heater switch along with a three pin socket, this is gas controlled and controls your heating and your water, the instructions are with the van. There are three little shelves, a couple of coat hooks and a light above. The main display and control panel is up above the door. There is a light down here, it does work and there is a fire extinguisher on the side of the cooker and washing up bowl which equally has a hook for your tea towel and I'm not quite sure the purpose of the recess down there is.
This light as you'll notice on the habitation track doesn't work, not ever sure why you would light it with so many lights in the place but that's how it is. The bottom cupboard houses your boiler and she is there and she works a treat, we've been out many times in December and it's still been warm. All the cupboard doors have this lock which means that they won't open when you're driving along so there's nothing falling out as you turn round corners. Then a wardrobe with some hangers, your TV aerial point, your awning prompt for turning is there, there is a spare one and randomly a shoe horn fitted into the van, not quite sure why the Germans need a shoe horn but obviously they do so we just lock that back up.
The bathroom door is here, it works with a turn knob and it's secure so you can lock yourself in and there are a number of cupboards where you can store stuff, I need to clean in here so please excuse the tooth holder. The toilet is your usual set for toilet and it turns so that you can put it away if you're having a shower and if you're going to use it you can pull it into there so you've got room for your knees unless you've got incredibly small knees, not for sure why they put a toilet roll holder behind the toilet but there you go. The controls for the toilet are down there and it's a simple pull it forward to flush, to get rid of waste and the flush is over here with a light for the bathroom. The shower I'm afraid we've never used but it is here, the doors come right round and you are fully enclosed and the spout and the mechanism is in the corner and as I say you just pull the shower curtain round so that you are enclosed and most of the water stays in the shower.
We will be leaving the hose which we have to fill up the water tank if you want it. On the right hand side you have the cooker, three rings, gas cooker that works a treat. You have a cutlery drawer, again the whole van needs a clean wipe down so please excuse. Your tap and your sink and this is really nifty to get rid of that when you wash up it just slots in that back place so that it's out of your way.
Equally pop it back in and you've got an extra work service. There's a light under there and a three pin plug and an extractor fan. Plenty of cupboards, this is usually our tea and coffee cupboard, a round cupboard up here and then this side you have your oven and again it has a catch so that it doesn't swing open when you're driving the van. The fridge, yes it's a fridge, it does what it says on the tin, it has a small freezer compartment, it works as you can see both on gas 230 volt and 12 volt, you can select your settings, it again has a lock which locks it into place when you're travelling.
You'll notice from the old habitation check that the hinge on the freezer is broken, it is and it does provide some movement from that side but it does close so that it's tight and you don't get frost everywhere. Equally, as usual, they have the bracketed hinges so that stuff doesn't move too far in the fridge. We leave it ajar so that it won't smell. This cupboard is generally our electrical cupboard and houses chargers and stuff.
The TV sits on this bracket and it moves so that you can see it from different angles. The TV is currently down here because we've just had the van valeted so we took it off and out for safekeeping whilst the valeter was here. There is a seat here which pulls out into a single bed with extra support coming from underneath and you use the back cushions to put on here to make the bed that bit wider so that it's more comfortable to sleep on. Here there is storage which you're able to access from outside if you wish to do so.
Down underneath that sofa you have the vents for the heating and again under the table you have vents for heating. On this side you have your seating, dining area if you like. It has four seatbelts, three across the chest seatbelts and a lap seatbelt. The table folds down and goes on a bracket underneath that you can see to make a small double bed.
The sides pull out and you put one of the back cushions from the sofa on there to either extend the small double bed or to meet this bed and have a bed that goes right across the van through which you can get no end of people in I'm sure. We certainly had a couple of grandchildren in with us. There are lights underneath that we use at night, flyscreens, no flyscreens and night blinds. I think they're pretty standard on all Climber vans.
Six cupboards, all of a similar sort of size to put in whatever you wish to travel with. The cab has, excuse the carpet, I haven't put that down after the carpet cleaner's been. The cab has two seats and a dashboard which you can see what's there. And then above the pull down bed is here, blind this side to be a bit bashed and blind and light that side and again blind, flyscreen or nothing entirely up to you.
There is a ladder to use for the, to get up here and there's a spare cushion that you can use. Now we haven't managed to find out where that goes but I'm sure it'd be useful for somebody. There are varying layouts within the Hymer manual which we have as to bed arrangements so I think it must be on something that we've never had that configured. There are curtains that shut so that you can completely put a child up here and put the curtains across at night time.
There is a pole, I'm going to have to put you down I'm afraid for a minute, will I? I managed to get it. There is a net here that hooks on to the cupboards either side so that it protects children from falling out. And that just tucks away under the mattress.
What else can I tell you? The cab also has curtains that come across and we've found that if we put the windscreen cover on and put the curtains across the cab goes cold but we stay nice and warm. So as I say, personal preference as to how you want to configure it and how many people you have in. All the cupboards have a wee button at the top that you press to open and once shut they lock into place again so things don't fall out.
There is a big cupboard under the fridge which is where we keep our pans. The kettle and toaster will come with because we don't need it anymore. On this side you've got your oven accoutrements and then in here we generally put plates. We chose menoleum plates so that they don't break but that's because we take grandchildren away.
Window here that you can open obviously, skylight here and here. This main skylight doesn't open at the moment. It's a job that we thought we'd get round to but haven't. We've looked for replacements on eBay but they come up so rarely because these things are so well built that they don't come up very often and we've never caught one in time.
There is another skylight in the bathroom area. So I think that's it. Any questions let us know. Thanks.
