Volkswagen Transporter T28 (T5.1) – 2011 (11 Reg) – PF11 MTZ

Manual | 2.0 TDI | 4-Berth | 5 Travelling Seatbelts

Mileage: 136,000

Condition: High-Spec Conversion – 5-Belt Family Versatility – 2026 Ready

Motorhomepig is incredibly proud to offer this 2011 Volkswagen Transporter T28. This T5.1 facelift model represents the perfect balance of a practical daily driver and a fully-equipped adventure van. Originally converted by Solent Campers in 2015 and further enhanced with a high-quality Denby Campers pop-top roof, this van has been maintained with a "no expense spared" approach. With 5 legal travelling seats, it is one of the few campers that can truly function as the primary family vehicle while being ready to hit the Lake District at a moment's notice.

The "Solent & Denby" Dual-Conversion Layout:

  • The Pop-Top Suite: Featuring a modern elevating roof by the renowned Denby Campers. This provides excellent standing head-height during the day and transforms into a comfortable double bed by night, taking the total sleeping capacity to four.

  • Rock 'n' Roll Lounge: The rear features a classic M1-tested Rock 'n' Roll bed. It offers a comfortable three-seater bench for travel and slides into a flat, supportive double bed in seconds.

  • 5 Legal Travelling Seatbelts: A standout feature for this T28; with three belts in the rear and two in the cab, it offers genuine 5-person transport capability.

  • Fully Equipped Galley: A professional side-kitchen conversion including a gas hob, sink, and fridge, with ample cabinetry for all your touring essentials.

Mechanical Integrity & Recent Maintenance:

  • 2026 Season Ready: This van is completely up-to-date, having received a Full Service and MOT in February 2026. It is ready to drive away with absolute peace of mind.

  • Electrical Refresh: It features a brand-new Leisure Battery, ensuring your off-grid power is reliable for lights, fridge, and device charging.

  • Tyre & Battery Health: Both the cab battery and all tyres are in good condition, meaning no immediate "hidden" costs for the new owner.

Key Features & Extras:

  • Daily Driver Dimensions: As a Short Wheelbase (SWB) T28, it fits into standard parking bays and under most height barriers, making it as easy to park at the supermarket as it is at a campsite.

  • Integrity: Supplied with 2 sets of keys and confirmed HPI clear with no outstanding finance.

Transparent Condition & Notes:

At Motorhomepig, we pride ourselves on absolute transparency so buyers can view with complete confidence:

  • Conversion Pedigree: By combining a Solent interior with a Denby roof, you are getting the benefit of two of the UK's most respected names in VW conversions.

  • Licence Profile: Plated at 3,000kg MTPLM, meaning it can be driven by anyone on a standard Category B (car) driving licence.

Broker's Note:

The VW T5.1 remains the most desirable camper platform on the market for its car-like drive and "cool factor." Finding a 5-belted version that has just had a full 2026 service and a new leisure battery is a fantastic find. It is an honest, well-maintained, and highly versatile camper that is ready for its next chapter of family adventures.

Walk-around videos are available upon request. Motorhomepig are proud to offer this vehicle as a broker, available to view in Workington, Cumbria.

Questions & Answers

Q

Buyer asked about the control panel and any marks/scratches on the 2011 VW Transporter T5.1

A

The panel monitors battery level but not water — water is monitored visually. The van has normal wear and tear for a 2011 vehicle. It's not perfect but still in good condition for its age. No damage to the interior.

Q

Buyer is asking about the condition underneath the van (any rust?), whether there's any upcoming work it would benefit from, and what heating/hot water system the van has.

A

1) Underside condition: There are spots of rust on the exhaust, but the underside itself is sound. 2) Maintenance: The timing belt and water pump were changed by Long and Small garage in Flimby in January 2024, so no major upcoming maintenance needed. 3) Heating & hot water: The van doesn't have a diesel heater. Water is heated on the stove.

Q

Buyer asked whether all electrics and gas connections are working ok on the VW Transporter T5.1.

A

All electrics and gas connections work properly, including ceiling lights etc. The EHU point is at the rear of the van underneath, nicely tucked away. The gas hob is fully working and has been used extensively. It has an electric spark ignition, though the seller typically uses a match or lighter. The window behind the hob slides open for ventilation. The van does not come with a gas cylinder, but the gas cylinder housing area is purpose-built and sealed.

Q

Buyer Jo asked whether the van starts from cold and whether it passed its last MOT with any advisories.

A

Yes, the van starts fine from cold — first time, every time. The seller did recently replace the battery as it had become a little sluggish to start, but since the new battery it starts reliably with no issues. She has also provided a copy of the current MOT and the receipt for the new battery.
